How to Make Handmade Paper

Five Years with Primrose Paper Arts

Hollander Beater

It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since I joined Primrose Paper Arts Inc. Time really flies when you’re surrounded by paper, pulp, and creative people!

Why do I love handmade paper so much?
First, it’s eco-friendly and affordable — most of our pulp comes from recycled paper, so every sheet feels like a little act of renewal.
Second, I get to use the Hollander beater — a big, old-school machine that turns scraps into beautiful pulp. It’s noisy but so much fun!
Third, the people. Our studio is full of friendly makers who share ideas, tips, and lots of laughter.
And finally, the art itself. Handmade paper has endless possibilities — you can fold it, sculpt it, or just admire its texture.

Making paper by hand connects me to nature, creativity, and community. I can’t imagine my art life without it now.

The Joy of Flight Exhibition

PPA group exhibition

Little Dream Collectors
Primrose Paper Arts held the opening of our current Mezzanine exhibition ‘Joy Flight’ on Saturday afternoon 12 March at Primrose Park.
It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny and was very well attended by the members, families and friends, who were excited to be invited to this event as so many art openings have been cancelled in the last few years.

Most attendees had never been to the site and were all very impressed by, not only the studio, but by the beautiful surrounding park. They loved the variety of work displayed in our exhibition and said how joyous, fun and uplifting it was.

We felt the opening was a perfect opportunity of engaging with our local community to give more awareness of the fantastic facilities available at the studio.

The exhibition will be on display in our Mezzanine space until the end of March so come on down and have a look.  The studio is open to our Paper Arts group on Mondays and Thursdays after 10 am.

Group Exhibition “Rusted On”

Online Group Exhibition is on NOW!

Rusted on gallery 5
Group Exhibition, “RUSTED ON” looks really nice! it is a showcase of Primrose Paper Arts Inc. members’ new work. The online exhibition is on now and my work is included in Gallery 5.
“Wabi-Sabi Polyhedron Lampshade”: Rust can be translated into the Japanese word ‘Sabi’. The same pronunciation Sabi, from Wabi-Sabi, means Japan’s unique concept of beauty. Nothing lasts forever. I created a lampshade with the pages from an old torn book written by Charles Dickens.
The exhibition was created by Claire Brach.
