About Midori Furze

I am a Japanese-born, Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist and I am an active participant in the local art community. As well as exhibiting my works in a number of group and solo exhibitions, I often run origami workshops and community origami projects.

Record number visitors saw my Sumi-e and origami

Ryokan Gojyuan Open day

Ryokan Gojyuan is an unique Japanese style accommodation in Sydney.
The Australian & owner, Linda loves Japan and she renovated her home into a small Ryokan. Once you step inside, you feel like you are already in Japan!

She organises Japanese cultural workshops and I run origami workshops and Koto no Wa workshops monthly.
We had an open day in August 2018, we had a record number of visitors.

The visitors admired my origami artworks and sumi ink drawings. Feel so great to chat with people who like the Japanese culture.
I wore kimono and also played the koto, Japanese traditional musical instrument. It was a really nice day.

Midoro played koto.
